#GRWM RMS Beauty Beachwalk Betty

Hi Friends,

When did you start wearing make up?

I started wearing makeup in Highschool in the early 80’s. I remember using the Covergirl blushes with the tiny brush, lining my eyes with a cheap black eyeliner that I heated up with a lighter. I finished up by generously spray my hair with Aqua-net Hairspray to make my hair stay in a completely unnatural position.

At the time….the best way to learn how to apply makeup was to go to the Marshall Fields make-up counter and have a sales person show you. It was fun to see my eyes transform as the make up artist decorated my eyes. I enjoyed make-up, but I never truly knew the correct way to apply.

When I started on my fitness journey I also chose to learn some new self care skills. Applying makeup was one of them. Learning new skills was a great distraction for me. I had 50 pounds to lose. I was losing weight consistently but it was still going to take me a year to reach my goal weight. I found that learning new things that helped me feel pretty was a great way to stay motivated.

Re-learning how to do make-up

Now is a great time to learn. There are education videos on YouTube. I watched a ton of them. Plus I read articles, and took notes. There is many styles of make-up application. Mature skin, glamourous, full coverage, “no make-up” looks. I learned from all different styles of make up artist. Decided on a style that works well for me. Then I practiced a lot. My YouTube channel will cover what I learned in make-up, plus I will bring you along on my adventures and healthy cooking.

I like natural makeup that has a little sparkle. Luminous is a great word on what I want my skin to look like. Skin care is a huge part of this part of this journey. I work hard to help my mature skin (age 58) look its best before I even apply foundation. Then I use the make-up to give me just a little extra glow.

“Get ready with me video”

On this “Get Ready With Me” video, I decided to try out a new bronzer. It is by RMS in the color Beach walk Betty. This brand is a lady owned company that has a fun back story. Rose-Marie Swift is the founder of RMS beauty. She has been a professional make up artist for many years. In the peak of the Victoria’s Secret Models runway shows she was one of the make up artist for the models. She said she always felt guilty reading the unnatural and harmful ingredients of the makeup she was putting on these beautiful models. This inspired her to start her make-up brand using only skin loving ingredients. She has a ton of beautiful products.

Rose Marie is a very interesting lady. In the future I will do a “deep dive” journal post about her!
